The mission of American Academy of Aeronautics is to perform applied research and education which advances the disciplines involved in vehicular flight. Our technologies portfolio and platforms provide customers with a wide range of applied research capabilities. The Academy pursues research projects in both commercial aviation and space systems.
We are working on certain small flight vehicle subsystems, including communications, sensors, and computing. The types of problems we are pursuing include: UAV "sense and avoid" (i.e., collision avoidance), autonomous search robotic platforms, computer vision for UAVs and autonomous landers, and dedicated nanosatelite launch to low Earth orbit.
The Academy operates its own fleet of manned aircraft, which are used for flight test engineering. It also engages in the development of small payloads for low Earth orbit and suborbital missions.
