American Academy of Aeronautics has worked with leading providers of cockpit flight simulation hardware and software for use by training institutions, researchers, and airlines. The Academy's software engineers develop device drivers to take input from flight controls in the simulator and feed those to the simulation program. They have worked with the cockpit simulator engineers and developers of flight simulation software to identify and resolve issues found in the simulation software.
Academy software engineers regularly track developments in the open soure flight simulator world, and do internal builds and tests of the software. The Academy looks into ways in which the software can be adapted for education and research.
